Risks have gone regular. Crises have become more common.

The Reputation Risk Index™ is a quarterly barometer of emerging and evolving reputational threats to companies and organizations. The Index combines data from the Global Situation Room’s team of crisis experts and analysis from more than 100 preeminent public affairs leaders, from former heads of state and ministers to current CEOs and senior executives who serve on the Global Risk Advisory Council™.

The result is critical visibility and insights designed for a time when executives are confronted by an increasingly complex and challenging operating environment.

They sat in the Situation Room and board rooms across the world. 100+ former heads of state, ministers, C-suite executives and senior public affairs leaders from across 58 industries and 17 countries.

Led by former U.S. SBA Administrator Isabel Guzman, each member of GSR’s Global Risk Advisory Council has a proven record of driving the public debate. Membership is invitation-only and is reserved for those with a lasting impact across sectors, countries, and disciplines.

GLOBAL RISK ADVISORY COUNCIL

Isabel Casillas Guzman

Chair, Global Risk Advisory Council

“I have seen the challenges facing companies of all sizes in navigating conditions that become more complex and challenging each day. As Administrator, my job was to support their growth in the face of enormous challenges from the pandemic to supply chain disruptions, inflation and cyber attacks. My goal for the Index and the conversations we have around these risks is helping to empower founders and executives to move and make decisions with a clearer picture of the threat environment. I am honored to help lead this work with my distinguished colleagues on the Council.”

Key Takeaways

  • The Q2 Reputation Risk Index shows the top threat confronting companies is disinformation, driven in many cases by polarized political agendas that are increasingly ensnaring the private sector.

  • Council members found European firms are more vulnerable to perceived deviation from social responsibilities like climate and anticompetitiveness. In the United States, political issues like association with Elon Musk and DEI backtracking continued to top the Index.

  • European risks primarily center around concerns about corporate behavior; perceptions of anti-competitive actions, and CEO actions top the Index. Disinformation is the one major risk shared with Americans.
